Vacancy for an Assistant Professor in history of information, computing, and digitality

FASoS is seeking an assistant professor with demonstrated excellence in teaching and research in the history of science and technology, who would join the MUSTS research programme. A focus on the history of information, computing, and digitality broadly construed and a strong interdisciplinary are assets. We are particularly looking for applicants who can link historical perspectives to Science and Technology Studies. Experience in digital humanities and/or digital historical methods would be welcome. Research that stresses the social and cultural dimensions of data, the knowledge sciences, and/or digitality would fit especially well with the faculty’s offerings and focus.

Research is carried out within the context of the Research Institute for Arts and Social Sciences (http://www.maastrichtuniversity.nl/research/fasos-research-institute) and, in particular, relating to the interdisciplinary research programme Maastricht University Science, Technology & Society Studies (MUSTS – https://www.maastrichtsts.nl).  S/He is expected to develop independent research projects and an international scholarly profile, and to attract external funding that is related to the faculty’s core research themes.

The selected candidate will contribute to the teaching and coordination of courses and supervision of internships, projects and theses in the faculty’s BA Digital Society, BA Arts & Culture, and the MA Digital Cultures. The successful candidate will division of teaching and research duties follows the devote 60% of her/his time to teaching and management and 40% to research. The research time can be extended through external funds up to 80% research and 20% teaching and management.
